Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Real Supporters'
Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on the Manager
Spurs fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham let in two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth top-flight at home defeat of 2025.
However the primary talking point was Fulham's next goal when the keeper lost possession well outside his box.
He ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.
However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.
Seconds afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs fans booed him.
The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.
One of those jeering episodes really irritated Frank.
"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and booed following, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that act that way. Alright booing after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with one another moving ahead."
Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period performance.
Ex- top-flight keeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".
"I do understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I am aware the part Vicario is performing. He is a great team player, he is a true figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."
'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to take the feedback.
"That score was a error of mine, I take responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are missing in composure and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it is tough to accept."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'
In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.
Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.
Ten moments elapsed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments after the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," he said.
"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up a bit.
"Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little extra opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank
While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.
The match was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.
Just a single of those victories have occurred since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said the boss.
"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the second is a error from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a single story, this game we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major team with massive anticipation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
