Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
