Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
