Jurgen Klopp admits a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach any other side on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, that means I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations must arise to draw him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, that’s nice. Success was frequent meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the tweaks that took the title last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and its impact at the club. The forward died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling recently.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
