British tennis star Emma Raducanu concludes her season and will keep her coach through next year.
Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.
The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She again required medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.
Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.
Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.
Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.
She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.
The athlete revealed that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
