American-Palestinian Adolescent Released Following 270 Days in Israeli Custody

An American-Palestinian youth after completing nine months in Israel's custody without charge was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention last February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care right after being freed, according to close relatives.

They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances for months."

US officials announced ongoing to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership considers paramount than the safety and security of American nationals"," it added.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to US authorities and the administration, demanding more be done to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits nor direct contact since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.

He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

It is also home to grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced of serious terrorism offences including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving physical abuse and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials succumbed to assault by settlement residents following tensions in July.

Both young men had worked together at their family's ice cream business based in Florida.

No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.
